Amazon has appointed Samir Kumar as the new country head for its India operations. In addition to his role in India, Kumar will continue to lead Amazon’s consumer businesses across the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey.
Kumar steps into the role previously held by Manish Tiwary, who left Amazon in August to pursue other opportunities. Amit Agarwal, Amazon India’s vice president, will work closely with Kumar in overseeing the company’s operations in India.
The two executives have a history of working together, and their collaboration comes at a strategic time. Amazon India is gearing up to enter the fast-growing quick commerce market, aiming to compete with players like BlinkIt, Zepto, and Instamart by the first quarter of 2025.
