Blinkit launches 10-min ambulance service starting from Gurugram

Blinkit, Zomato’s quick commerce arm known for its signature 10-minute grocery delivery, has ventured into emergency medical services. The platform launched its first ambulance service in Gurugram today, promising a 10-minute response time for critical healthcare needs.

This initiative was unveiled by Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa on X.

The service debuts with a fleet of five ambulances, each equipped with advanced medical facilities such as oxygen cylinders, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and essential medicines. As per the company, trained paramedics and assistants will accompany a skilled driver in each vehicle to ensure timely and professional care.

With this initiative, Blinkit aims to tackle the long-standing inefficiencies in traditional ambulance services, often criticized for high costs and delays. Dhindsa emphasized the venture’s social focus, stating, “We will operate this service at an affordable cost for customers and invest in really solving this critical problem for the long term.”

By integrating ambulance booking into its app, Blinkit has made access to emergency medical services easier and faster for its users. The move could potentially disrupt the ambulance market and set a new benchmark in urban healthcare.

Blinkit plans to scale its ambulance service to other major cities over the next two years.

The company will compete with the likes of Red.Health, Dial4242, MeduLance, among others.
