Kaatil, Indian Chilli-Focused Brand, Raises Seed Funding to Fuel Global Expansion

Kaatil, a hot condiments brand from India known for its focus on chilli-based products, has successfully raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding. The funding round was led by Mumbai-based Prajay Advisors and included participation from prominent investors like Shivaan Ghai and Romil Ratra from the Graviss Group.

About Kaatil’s Products Launched in 2021 by founders Sagar Merchant and Arjun Panwar under Smerc Food & Beverages, Kaatil specializes in a variety of spicy condiments made from Indian chilies. The product range includes hot sauces, chilli oils, and hot ketchup. In 2024, Kaatil earned international recognition by winning the prestigious Great Taste Award from the U.K.’s Guild of Fine Foods.

The brand sells its products through various channels, including its own website, physical retail stores, and leading online platforms like Amazon, Big Basket, and Nature’s Basket. Additionally, Kaatil has expanded globally, offering its products on Amazon USA and in retail stores across Canada and New Zealand.

Plans for Expansion Kaatil plans to utilize the new capital to further expand its product range and strengthen its presence in both domestic and international markets. The company is focused on growing its distribution through e-commerce platforms, rapid commerce, and traditional retail outlets. Additionally, Kaatil is looking to establish an independent B2B supply arm to cater to the needs of restaurants, hotels, and cafés.
