Brij Bhushan, the co-founder and former Chief Operating Officer of Magicpin, has officially joined Prime Venture Partners as a full-time partner. This move marks a significant step for Prime Venture Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm, as they strengthen their leadership team with Bhushan’s extensive experience in the startup ecosystem.

A Strategic Addition to Prime Venture Partners

Prime Venture Partners announced the strategic addition of Bhushan on Friday, emphasizing his role in the firm’s investment strategies, portfolio management, and fundraising initiatives. Bhushan’s deep-rooted experience in venture capital and entrepreneurship makes him an invaluable asset to the firm.

A Return to Venture Capital

Brij Bhushan is no newcomer to the world of venture capital. Before his entrepreneurial journey with Magicpin, he served as Vice President at Nexus Venture Partners, where he gained critical insights into the startup landscape.

“Joining Prime Venture Partners feels like coming full circle,” Bhushan shared. “As a VC turned founder, I’ve realized that early-stage startups need more than just investment—they need a true team member. The Prime team, full of ex-entrepreneurs, has exemplified this over the past decade, and I resonated deeply with their culture. After nearly a decade as a founder, I’m excited to return to VC, where I can help founders navigate their journeys, leveraging my experiences alongside a team that truly understands what it takes to get a company off the ground.”

Bhushan’s Impact at Magicpin

During his time at Magicpin, Bhushan was instrumental in driving the company’s rapid growth. Magicpin, now India’s leading hyperlocal platform and the third-largest food delivery app, raised over $100 million in funding under Bhushan’s leadership. His efforts were pivotal in securing investments from major players like Lightspeed, Zomato, and Waterbridge, propelling Magicpin to new heights in the market.

Strengthening Prime Venture Partners’ Leadership Team

Prime Venture Partners views Bhushan’s addition as a strategic move to enhance their investment team. Amit Somani, Managing Partner at Prime Venture Partners, stated, “Brij Bhushan brings a unique combination of strategic thinking, execution excellence, and a long-term mindset essential for company building. We believe he is a perfect addition to our leadership team.”

Leadership Expansion and Future Vision

In addition to Bhushan’s appointment, Prime Venture Partners has also promoted Gaurav Ranjan to Principal of Investments. Ranjan, who has been with the firm for six years, has played a crucial role in evaluating over 2,000 startups and working closely with early-stage companies within the firm’s portfolio.

Prime Venture Partners, led by Sanjay Swamy, Shripati Acharya, and Amit Somani, has invested in more than 50 startups over the past 12 years. With Bhushan’s expertise, the firm aims to solidify its position in the Indian venture capital and tech startup ecosystem, guiding companies from early funding rounds to potential IPOs.
