Organic grooming and wellness brand that is based on authentic and traditional beauty practices

Editor Desk

organic grooming and wellness brand that is based on authentic and

traditional beauty practices. We take inspiration from ancient home

remedies (gharelu nuskhe), the goodness of nature (Prakriti), and Ayurveda.
Endorsed by influencers like Nandini Bhalla (Editor Cosmopolitan India, Digital Editor LSG Magazine) Karishma Mehta (Founder Humans Of Bombay) and Maanvi Gagroo (PK, No One Killed Jessica, 4 more shots & Best actress TVF), Niharika KonidelaNoel SeanAashka Goradia, Sheeba, celebrity fitness expert Shwetambari ShettyNatasha Suri we have managed to carve a small yet a steady niche for ourselves in the market.

Background of the founders:
I was introduced to entrepreneurship when I started leading the Entrepreneurship cell Initium in my college, Mount Carmel Bangalore where I was pursuing B.A in Psychology, Economics & Sociology. I joined Goldman Sachs in 2010 after my graduation. I quit in 2012, to pursue an MSc. in Organisational Psychiatry & Psychology from King’s College, London.

My research “How Appraisal affects motivation in India & UK” has been published as a book by Lambert Academic Publishing. After completing my post-graduation, I came back to India and joined

as one of the then leading startups in India called Lookup

as the Country headHR.

It was an early stage start-up when I joined, and having worked closely

with the founding team, I had first hand experience understanding the

dynamics of a start-up.

Pooja is an engineer by qualification but the entrepreneur bug bit

her quite early and her passionate and creative personality did not

lure her for a 9-5 job.

She was previously the Founder of an event management company called CircleTheDate. A self-taught home baker

she loves to innovate with ingredients and come up with new recipes.

This motivated her to study more about forgotten ancient Indian

ingredients and how they can be brought together to make grooming and

wellness products. Her extensive knowledge and thorough understanding of

ingredients enable her to come up with unique creations for

BodyCafé.

We started BodyCafé in 2017

out of a common passion for natural grooming products. The responses

received from our users were encouraging and

we grew a steady and loyal user base.

We did some more R&D and market surveys, collated the feedback and

expectations of our users and officially launched ourselves as a Pvt.

Ltd. company in 2019.

We were recognized amongst ten women entrepreneurs finding a niche in the organic sector by YourStory. We have also been awarded ‘Inspiring Organic and Wellness Lifestyle Brand (2019)‘ by SWI International Awards.
Additionally, we are very humbled to have made it amongst 5 nature influencers by the very prestigious Hair Magazine.
March 2020 is a time that we certainly will not forget this lifetime.
This

particular time was like a litmus test for us and going by our previous

pace, it was most likely that we would have crumbled, but agility to

focus on key SKUs, sheer hard work and determination, constant

strategizing, high team spirits and a strong team were reasons enough to

manoeuvre this to an entirely different direction.
We not only increased our revenue mark but also reached a wider audience and strengthened our niche clientele.

Our clientele is niche and includes the likes of State Police department, Government

Pharmacies and hospitals, Apartment Complexes, Private offices, Banks,

Departmental stores, N.E Railways,Ministry of Nagaland, Ministry of

Imphal.

In the South of India, our clientele includes corporate offices (Amazon

Bangalore, Miniso (Bangalore), Miniso (Salem), Dunzo, FitDay), Telangana

Police Department via Lalamove, Government hospitals and pharmacies and

direct clients.

We
are live on Qtrove, Fynd, Flipkart, Gorg, Uniket, Ecohoy, Natty.in and

have initiated chats with Amazon, Nykaa, Myntra, and TataCliq Luxury. We are also in advance talks to launch our brand in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur)

and Singapore. Additionally, we would like to mention that our packing is done by victims of domestic and marital abuse and we try to provide them with emotional and financial independence via our brand.
During Covid, we have pledged to share a portion of the revenue we make in donating covid and daily essentials to orphanages and old age homes and have also provided employment to the youth of North East who lost their jobs due to the current pandemic.
